Evaporative cooling is a more basic form of cooling product on the market, normally the evaporative cooler unit is installed on the roof top of the house and the duct work is then run thought out the roof to the diffusers in the ceiling that supply the air into the house.
It works by wetting pads that surround the evaporative cooler unit and by using an electric fan draws outside air through the wetted pads. As the air passes through the pads it is then cooled and then passes through the duct into the house and exhausted through the windows or doors.
Evaporative cooling only works in the dryer climate areas like Canberra and will work better on a dry day (Low Humidity). On the humid days the evaporative cooler effects will be decreased. The temperature is controlled by the fan speed and on a normally dry day you would see approximately 10 to 15 degrees cooler than the outside temperature inside the house.
