Split System Air Conditioning
The high wall split system air conditioner would be the most popular air conditioner on the market. The reason it is called a split system is because the indoor and outdoor unit are split by interconnecting pipe work. This particular type of air conditioner is only designed to do single zones or rooms. For example if you were to install the indoor unit in the living area you will still receive some heating or cooling into the other directly joining areas but not to the comfort that you will have in the living area were the indoor unit is installed.
The split system air conditioner ranges in size from 2.5KW that is suitable for a bedroom right through to the largest at 8KW for a large living area. If you would like to calculate the size of the system required for you home please select the Quick Size Calculator or Advanced Size Calculator from the menu or contact Monaro Air Canberra that can organise a Technician to give a free site inspection and quote.
The split system air conditioner on heating is approximately 70% cheaper to run than electric heating and 50% cheaper to run than Natural Gas heating and uses less electricity to run on cooling.

Back To Back Installation
A back to back installation is the most common of all wall mounted split system installations and is where the Indoor unit is placed on an external wall with the outdoor unit placed directly behind. There are endless variations that can be made such as the outdoor unit can be placed on a wall bracket also the pipe work can be extended if the outdoor unit cannot be placed directly behind the indoor. Some variations may incur additional cost.

Side entry installation
A side entry installation is where the indoor unit can be placed in the corner of the internal wall that meets an external wall, or further out on the internal wall with an internal pipe cover that conceals the interconnecting pipe work.

Up and over installation
The up and over installation is where Indoor unit to be placed on an external or internal wall and outdoor unit placed in other location.
For most split system air conditioning systems the outdoor unit can be placed up to 30 meters from the indoor unit.
If the indoor unit is placed on an internal wall a condensate pump may be required.
